The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 Webcast Series
Part 1: Repatriation Incentives and Other International Provisions

Congress recently passed The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 ("The Act"), which seeks to end the trade dispute between the U.S. and the European Union. This bill is the most significant corporate tax act since 1986 and presents planning opportunities for companies in many areas.

Over the next several weeks, PricewaterhouseCoopers will present a series of webcasts that offer in-depth analysis of the significant aspects of the legislation. Please join us for the first of these webcasts, to be held at 2pm EDT on October 28, 2004, as we discuss the international provisions of The Act. Coverage will include the International Tax Reforms, involving foreign tax credits, subpart F, and other international provisions.

Special focus at the beginning of the Webcast will be on the incentives for US companies to repatriate foreign accumulated earnings. Topics will include:

  • What constitutes a qualified dividend
  • Permitted uses of the repatriated funds
  • The need to compute current and accumulated earnings & profits and tax pools
  • The potential impact of repatriation planning on foreign tax credit or NOL positions
  • Reducing withholding taxes on distributions
  • Timing of distributions between 2004 and 2005

Questions & Answers. There will be a Q&A session during the presentation.
